They will give you tips to on how to engage your organization with media and the importance of building strategic partnerships with media outlets.

How can you get news outlets to cover what your nonprofit’s doing? How can you become a go-to source for the cause you care about? And um, how can you avoid uncomfortable encounters with the press? Voice of San Diego reporter Lisa Halverstadt will tackle all that and more.
The Changing Media Landscape – Tom Karlo, KPBS General Manager
KPBS General Manager Tom Karlo will discuss the changing media landscape and take you through key local and national events that helped shape the way we report news today. Attendees will learn how the industry’s shift to digital news disrupted traditional broadcasting. This shift led to KPBS becoming a converged news organization — reporting on TV, radio, and digital platforms. New digital opportunities, such as Roku, Apple TV, and more on the horizon, are driving KPBS to create news and content that reaches this growing audience while ensuring KPBS stays relevant in the ever-changing media industry.
Building Strategic Alliances – Dale Ganzow, San Diego Business Journal
Dale Ganzow will share ideas on how you might leverage current relationships (some you may not even know you have) and how to build them with companies or media outlets in San Diego. He’ll focus on alignment and shared goals to better your chances of forging new partnerships or of being covered by the media.
