Waste Benchmarking at the Cherry Blossom Festival

March 9, 2018 - March 11, 2018

We have a special opportunity to benchmark the waste at the Japanese Friendship Garden’s Cherry Blossom Festival happening Friday, March 9 through Sunday, March 11.
We would like to extend an invitation to participate in waste diversion and benchmarking on one or more of those days.
“Green Team” volunteers will be helping sort, weigh, record and identify waste streams from the event. This information will be valuable in helping the Japanese Friendship Garden and other organizations in Balboa Park plan for green and sustainable events.
The following shifts are available:
  • Friday, March 99:00 am – 2:30 pm or 1:30-7:00 pm
  • Saturday, March 10:  9:00 am – 2:30 pm or 1:30-7:00 pm
  • Sunday, March 11:  9:00 am – 2:30 pm or 1:30-7:00 pm

Shifts are 5 1/2 hours long, including a volunteer orientation.

Food and drink will be provided to volunteers, and you get the special opportunity of experiencing one of the prettiest festivals in Balboa Park!
Contact sustainability@bpcp.org with questions and sign up for a shift using this online form.
