ABOUT ARTS+CULTURE:SAN DIEGO

Arts+Culture:San Diego (a program of the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership) is a coalition of more than 100 arts and culture organizations dedicated to strengthening our diverse culture ecosystem and achieving the Penny for Arts and Culture funding plan in the City of San Diego. The Penny for Arts and Culture plan, long promised by the City of San Diego since 2012, would invest 9.52% of Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) in Arts and Culture funding throughout San Diego to be distributed to Arts and Culture organizations and programs in the community.

Advocacy efforts have been successful in building support of all nine Council Members to date. Moving forward, it is critically important to maintain full support from the City Council and to work to grow city leadership support. Sharing a unified voice – and consistent presence – at both Council and City administration is key.
