Thanks to the friendly and experienced docents at The Old Globe, Park staff and volunteers got an inside look at the magic backstage of the Old Globe theatres at the October OPOT Get-Together. More than 60 Park team members enjoyed behind-the-scenes tours of the Globe’s three stages in Balboa Park including the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the 580-seat Old Globe Theatre and the 250-seat Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre located in the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Guests also visited the 620-seat Lowell Davies Festival Theatre, the Globe’s outdoor venue and home to the summer Shakespeare Festival. Guests from the evening tours even met a prop master for The Old Globe’s production of Noura.
The Old Globe is one of the country’s leading regional theatre complexes and San Diego’s largest theatre organization. Theatre tours are open to the public and provide guests an immersive experience as docents guide them through the backstage areas and craft shops of the theatres and share the Globe’s rich history.
Each year the Globe presents 15 productions and nearly 600 performances on its stages. Learn more about The Old Globe’s diverse programming and upcoming shows.
