August OPOT Get-Together Recap

One Park One TeamBalboa Park Cultural Partnership, One Park - One Team

The August OPOT Get-Together featured a morning of coffee and art courtesy of Café Mingei and the San Diego Art Institute. As the Mingei International Museum undergoes its renovations, the cafe continues to operate out of nearby neighbor the San Diego Art Institute. Park employees and volunteers were invited to enjoy their morning coffee and pastries as they peruse the San Diego Art Institute’s latest contemporary works. The institute’s current premier exhibition, FORGING TERRITORIES features African-American and Latinx artists within the LGBTQ community who portray cultural awakening, the current political moment, and considerable storytelling skill in their artistry. This collection of both established and emerging African-American and Latinx artists engage in cultural storytelling that describes themselves, their friends, and their environments in strikingly visual ways.

Thanks to the Café Mingei and the San Diego Art Institute teams, more than 150 Balboa Park employees and volunteers attended the August OPOT Get-Together to enjoy their morning brew among fellow Park teammates. Check out photos from the event below.

One Park – One Team Get-Togethers are for current Balboa Park employees and volunteers. These serve as an opportunity for Balboa Park employees and volunteers to network and get to know one another. Guests are not permitted.
