The February One Park One Team Get-Together featured a tour of the San Diego Natural History Museum’s Escape The Nat! escape room, followed by game night at the museum. Visitor services lead and project manager of The Nat’s Escape Room, Zack Stevens led OPOT on the tour and shared his insight as one of the masterminds behind the unique escape room experience. Through the San Diego Natural History Museum’s funding project called the Evolutionary Venture Fund, donor funds are specifically allocated to fund staff ideas. Pitched by one of The Nat’s scientists, the escape room took nearly a year to develop once approved by the selections committee. Zack shared more about his time designing much of the experience – without revealing too much information for those interested in trying it out, followed by game night amongst attendees in one of The Nat’s classrooms.
This opportunity to explore the San Diego Natural History Museum’s Escape Room for the February OPOT Get-Together allowed Park team members and volunteers to get the inside scoop and inspiration behind this unique experience, a concept found in only a few museums around the world.
