September marks the official launch of the Balboa Park Online Learning Portal. In August we shared a sneak peek into our project, this month we are showing it off!

The Learning Institute has been seeking new ways to help Balboa Park team members learn all the rich history and information our Park has to offer guests. Since completing the Customer Service Initiative in 2014, we’ve been trying to figure out the best way to disseminate information throughout Balboa Park. After many months of research, we learned that every person in the Park has experienced barriers to learning, including but not limited to: time, cost, or availability.

In an effort to break down the learning barriers in the Park, we have developed the Online Learning Portal. The Online Learning Portal is easily accessible via computer or tablet, the introductory courses are FREE to Park team members, and will provide on-demand required courses in the near future my site. The launch will include our first introductory courses: Balboa Park Orientation including history, a ranger-led tour, and wayfinding, along with Executive Director Series videos and recorded presentations from the Smith Leadership Symposium.

Throughout the month of September, Learning Institute staff will present at your institutions for scheduled demos and answer questions regarding the Portal. Look for our flyers in your institutions. We can’t wait for you to discover a new way to learn at Balboa Park!
