About Our Public Events
Public events get at the heart of the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership’s mission, which is to foster collaboration between Balboa Park museums and also the City of San Diego. Creating and implementing outside-in public events not only brings visitors to the Park, but encourages them to visit the vast number of cultural institutions available. Similar to our Annual Explorer Pass, these events seek to get the public engaged and shine a light on our museums.
We plan to grow these types of public events each year in this outside-in model to create new and unique Park experiences for all ages and diverse interests. These events will provide an opportunity to partner with local businesses and organizations outside the Park, educate the public, and generate exciting celebrations that will draw new and old audiences to Balboa Park.
Maker Faire San Diego is a celebration of anyone who makes anything and can teach others to make it, too. Maker Faire San Diego is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, artists, students and commercial exhibitors. At this two-day faire, Maker exhibits are woven throughout Balboa Park grounds and into participating museums. The participatory model brings new visitors to the Park, provides exposure for museums, and invites a myriad of sponsorship opportunities. Learn more.
Our Public Programs would be impossible to pull off without the help of dedicated volunteers in San Diego. We are always looking for people who want to give back to their community, particularly Balboa Park, and gain new experiences. If you’re interested in helping with our events in the future, please sign up below! We look forward to working with you.
