SUMMARY:Learn Together: How to Create a Culture of Change with Quincey Penn
DESCRIPTION:Join the Parkwide IDEA Working Group on Tuesday\, November 16 from 10:00am – 11:15am\, to learn about DEI theories and practice from Quincey Penn\, Director\, Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion at the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. Without formal education we often learn about DEI through our personal observations and experiences. In this presentation Quincey will share the 9 theories of DEI to help you begin to name behaviors you often see or experience but can’t really explain. He will also share the process he uses in his practice\, A.C.T.\, which can be used as you navigate IDEA within your organization and your own journey. \nClick here to register \n\nAbout the Speaker \nQuincey Penn (he/him/his) is an experienced innovator with a demonstrated history of designing and assessing initiatives\, programs\, and organizational structures to foster efficient and effective strategic planning to drive company results. Currently the inaugural Director of Diversity\, Equity\, & Inclusion for San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance\, Quincey has been doing DEI work for the past 10 years for nonprofit organizations\, academic institutions\, and consulting agencies. Alongside his proven track record of continuously improving key performance indicators through measurable metrics\, also stands a strong foundation of formal academics. He is finishing his Ph. D in Leadership at Claremont Graduate University where he is focusing on diversity and inclusion in workforce development. Quincey also holds a M.S. in Counseling\, and B.S. in Psychology and Sociology from Fresno State University. His leadership experience paired with academic background has equipped him with theory\, research\, and practicality of properly assessing\, evaluating\, and implementing effective programming and training that will support staff within any industry to successfully work towards a common goal.
